BIOGRAPHY
Cary L. Mitchell, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist who has been conducting pre-employment psychological evaluations of law enforcement candidates for departments throughout California for over 25 years. He is co-editor of Police Psychology and Its Growing Impact on Modern Law Enforcement (2017).
​
Formerly a V.A. psychologist, he has worked in two federal prisons and has been a consultant for the U.S. Department of Justice’s COPS program. For three decades he has taught graduate assessment courses, chaired dissertations, and served in administrative roles that included Director of Clinical Training and Associate Dean in Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology. He also codirects a university-affiliated mental health clinic at a homeless shelter in Los Angeles.

Dr. Mitchell has authored multiple grants, journal articles, book chapters, and conference presentations.
